Rick and Karyn have owned and operated a general building company called Karik Construction Co., Inc. since 1995 and found the market for log homes taking off.

"Many Log Home dealers were contacting us to bid the building for them, as they were selling the packages only and were not actually builders. What we found, however, is that in most cases the homes would be over designed, over engineered and over priced. The log home dealer, who is normally not an experienced builder, would have sold the client on a plan and not having considered all the costs to complete the entire building project, would have the clients budget set unrealistically. The clients would end up discouraged because the home was out of their budget. That is why we started Canyon Country Log Homes, Inc. We are an experienced builder and we work with our clients to design their homes to fit a realistic building budget. We do the drafting and designs right in our office. This puts the builder in a position to oversee the plans and be sure they are drawn to his specifications so we can avoid  expensive hardware and special order materials"
